darkbunnyrabbit @ : Red Dwarf video - Down (Arnold Rimmer POV)
Song Title/Band: Down, by Jason Walker
Rating: PG at most
Series: Red Dwarf
Summary: Spoilers up to S7 Stoke me a Clipper
This is a fairly straightforward tribute/character POV vid of Rimmer, specifically his feelings while considering the mantle of Ace, and his general sense of unfairness throughout the rest of his tenure.
I originally had a plan to use this song for another video, but I'm so glad I didn't this one is a much better concept.
I don't have access to my remastered version at the moment, so the quality of the video isn't as nice as I'd like it to be.
There's a few glitches left in the video that bug me, but Vegas is so slow it's hard to know what the video will look like until it's done, and the glitches aren't enough to go back and fix them.
Holoship is legit one of the saddest episodes for Rimmer.
Better than Life is also one of them.
It's all his POV, so even if he richly deserves his comeuppance, it counted.
The scene where he's using learning drugs is not about finding his revisions, in case it isn't clear, I just used it to indicate how desperately he wanted to pass.

ellyodd @ : Kryten singing Sugababes
Kryten aka Robert Llewellyn is making blogs on YouTube! Am I the only one who didn't know this? He's only got about 500-1500 views on his videos, so I guess it's not THAT known. He's been there since May 09 2006 though.
Well, here he is, in a wig, lip synching to Sugababes' "Push The Button". Enjoy!

paganmudslide @ : A gift on Gazpacho Soup Day!
It is still Gazpacho Soup day where I live, (Seattle, USA) and I just came across something very cool.
For a few years now, I have been a fan of the Brobdingnagian Bards, a celtic music group. One of the bards, Marc Gunn, recently produced a CD of Irish Drinking Songs...For Cat Lovers. Kind of a wacky idea, but cute.
Anyhow, on his MySpace page right now, you can listen to his song "The Mining Ship Red Dwarf." It's a song from the album I mentioned above, with lyrics about the Cat.
Go check it out, it is really a rather good song!!

I've been lurking around for a while, and finally decided to join. Hope it's ok with you...^_^
I got hooked on Red Dwarf from a very early age...4, in fact!
I hope you will make a n00b feel welcome...
It's about lunchtime where I live, so I made a really disgusting-sounding sandwich...a taco sandwich, if you prefer...my family has named it...it's really yummy (as is Rimmer...hehehe...).
Anyways, I'm rambling...better let you guys take over...see you soon!

I usually write slash, but I had a bunny for a more standard fic today; here it is. Beryl. It will make very little sense if you haven't seen Rimmerworld and Stoke Me A Clipper. PG. Silly.
He had company, on an infrequent basis...
I also made some icons the other day, mostly Rimmer.

catpaws86 @ : I've been watching the community for awhile now, i'm just making one of my first of a few posts. For the moment, enjoy one of my favorite scenes from "Quarantine":
RIMMER: I was just doing a little test -- a little test to see if you had
gone crazy. CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If there is one thing I can't stand it's
LISTER: Well we've passed the test, Rimmer. You can let us out.
RIMMER: I can't let you out.
LISTER: Why not?
RIMMER: Because the King of the Potato People won't let me. I begged
him. I got down on my knees and wept. He wants to keep you here.
Keep you here for ten years.
CAT: Could we see him?
RIMMER: See who?
CAT: The King.
RIMMER: Do you have a magic carpet?
LISTER: Yeah, a little three-seater.
RIMMER: So, let me get this straight. You want to fly on a magic carpet
to see the King of the Potato People and plead with him for your
freedom, and you're telling me you are completely sane?!

Watched Me² on Friday night as well as one episode from each of the first 5 series' to celebrate Gazpacho Soup Day.
Can't remember if the date (if there is one) for Rimmer's Death Day. If not, I'll just pick exactly 6 weeks after Gazpacho Soup Day (6th Jan).
So will be watching Thanks For The Memory (obviously) but any other suggestions for Rimmer/Rimmer's death episodes?

So I decided that for Halloween, I'm going to put a hologram H on my forehead so I will feel cool but no one else will understand what it means. But I have two questions for you:
1. What should I make it out of?
2. How should I affix it to my forehead?
I'd like to have it on there so it doesn't fall off, but obviously, I don't want it there forever.

To any dwarfers who get WITF (the Public Television station for Pennsylvania and some of Maryland), they've just started re-showing the series from the beginning. I just finished watching the first episode tonight, and while I know this isn't so big for people who have the DVDs or a bazillion cable channels that show it regularly, I'm positively giddy that I get to see the entire series all over again. It's on Saturday nights at 10.30, if anyone's interested.

Hey everyone! I'm new here but my love for Red Dwarf goes all the way back to 5th grade. I succeeded in getting three of my friends into the show, mainly just from one viewing. I've got Series I-V, some tapes and the book, "Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers".
So my question to you guys is, What is your favourite episode in each series? Mine are:
I: Confidence and Paranoia
II: Better Than Life
III: Tie between Backwards and Polymorph
V: Tie between Quarantine and Back to Reality
VII: I've not seen any of the episodes from Series VII. It's a tragedy ;-;
VIII: Pete: Part One and Pete: Part Two.

august_victory @ : Hello there I'm new. I LOVE Red Dwarf..especially Rimmer lol. I've built up a nice collection of the DVDs etc, and I read one of the books. Man, the book was pretty crazy. But yes all the same, Red Dwarf is cool. Speaking of my DVDs I'm thinking of wreaking some serious vengance on someone who borrowed the first series and refuses to return it. grr.
This is probably an obvious question to ask, but who are your favourite characters of all, and why? I'm always curious..(someone once said to me 'oh! my favourite is the pollymorph because its so cute!' er. yes.)
BTW if anyone wants to add me to their friends list please do so and I'll add you back!
oh yeah. My name's Amy. heh.

edenrose @ : Hello. I was just looking around Red Dwarf communities this morning and found this one to be rather interesting. And, perhaps, you could answer a question of mine.
I want to buy the Red Dwarf DVDs. I've watched downloaded DVD rips from the Japanese releases, and they're missing a large portion of very amusing scenes - some of my favourites, in fact. Is this the case with the British or Canadian versions? I don't know anybody who owns either and really don't know where else to ask. I have all of the episodes on tapes but, as one might imagine, the tapes are getting a little worn.

turkaholic @ : Mistakes
Hey just a random thought of mine I thought I'd share. I was watching 'thanks for the memory' earlier today, and something struck me. In that episode, Rimmer needs a hologram projection cage in order to be able to be on that planet's surface, and yet in later series (series 3 onwards I think) he seems to have no trouble existing outside Red Dwarf. Has anybody else noticed this, or any of the other mistakes in the series?
Just a random thought

im reading Better than life atm, its brilliant. Ive read only backwards before this, but own Infinity welcomes careful drivers and last human... :)
Lister - the Bum in the history of the universe
Anyway the following from Better than life i thought was worth typing...
Better Than Life
"The unmanned craft hacked around wildly in the sudden turbulence, the autopilot stretched beyond its capacity. The methane storm whipped up to hurricane force and sucked the ship to the ground.
A continent of methane exploded.
The blast triggered off a thermo-nuclear reaction in a thousand discarded atomic-power stations, and the Earth tore itself from its orbit around the sun, and farted its way out of the solar system.
Two and a half thousand years of abuse were ended.
The Earth was free.
Free from humankind. Free from civilization.
When it was clear of the sun's influence, it froze in heatless space and bathed its wounds in a perennial Ice Age.
On it went, out of the solar system and into Deep Spacem carving a path through the universe, looking for a new sun to call home."

I might try it myself sometime, only I don't know how to fry an egg, but I could probably find out. I want to know if it's as good as they say it is.
Last week, I was watching season one, and guess what I found in an outlet book store Thursday afternoon? A pop-up Kama Sutra. Since Lister had one in Me Squared, I just had to have it. It's not the zero gravity edition, though. ;-)

Hey I thought I'd introduce myself... seeing as I just joined and all. I'm 17, I'm a huge red dwarf fan (I have all 6 first series on video) and I have been since I was about 11. I'm a little bit of a Lister lover... though I have to confess a platonic fondness for Rimmer's nostrils. My favourite episode is probably Camille, or DNA (because of the 'double polaroid' scene)
So anyway, I've joined... and here I am, huzzah!

rocca_that_kilt @ : Season 1
I just got Season (Series?) One on DVD for my birthday. I think it's great and everything, but I'm a bit confused. The only other episodes I've seen are from later seasons, but some seem to take place before everyone else on Red Dwarf has gone away. But in these DVDs I just got, they all die in like the first episode. So are there a few alternate ways in which the protagonists end up the only ones on the ship?
Haha I really liked Me^2, where Rimmer had sort of a lover's tiff with himself. T'was hilarious.
