gavluvsga @ : Robert Llewelyn on Have I Got News For You
Anyone else see him on it the other day? I took a few moments to realise who he was, but I thought it was amusing. I reckon that show should have Robert Llewelyn or Chris Barrie as guest presenter some time.

*giggles* After tea, Mama was playing with my kitten. She got out one of the mini yoyos I used to play with when I was little and was dangling it in front of her. I just laughed. Mama didn't get it. Thought you lot might share in my feelings of fun.

vertical_drop @ : Hi there. I'm Sarah, just joined :)
I liked Red Dwarf alot when it was just Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten. I only have series 1-3 on DVD so far but a favourite episode of mine is 'Back To Reality' from series 5 I think. I love the bit when they (think) they're in the car, going over the speed bumps, and up and down the bridge, teehee!
Are there Easter eggs on the DVDs? If so, how do I find them?
Well, I'm rather tired so: Smoke me a kipper, Skipper... I'll be back for breakfast.

bromley001 @ : Red Dwarf VI DVD review: possible Easter Egg spoilers!
Note: Updated, but still not quite finished (2.30pm, 23/2/05). I've still got to fill in some information about the bonus features. It won't be here for long as ultimately, I'll probably send it to BTL, but feel free to let me know what you think of my review, and if you agree with what I've got to say. Smeg on!( Read more...Collapse )
All in all then, another excellent Red Dwarf DVD. I only paid #12.99 for mine, but even at it's RRP of #19.99, it's brilliant value for money, with it's complete running time of over nine hours, including commentaries and audio bonuses.

gavluvsga @ : Wow...
I just got an e-mail telling me that my Series 6 DVD had been dispatced (this was from the BBC online shop). Although one website was listing the UK release as this month, I acuually thought it was a mistake because Cult Times doesn't mention it.
Anyone else order their copies from the BBC shop?

Here, post bits in the commentaries for the DVDs that you found especially funny.
For me, I thought it was quite funny in the Timeslides commentary (watched last night) when Danny John-Jules comes in late and says: "Sorry, I had to visit the little boys' room". Maybe I'm just easliy amused.

I've been a member for a while, but I haven't posted anything yet. I've been a fan of the Dwarf for over a decade, I was holding out for the DVDs to be released as a box set, some silly person told me it would never happen, but here I am with the box set of seasons 1 through 4 in my hand.
I think Rimmer is a complete and total git, which makes him my favourite character.
I hope to make some new friends here, in the meantime, I came across this meme, I thought you guys would like it.
If this sort of thing isn't allowed, let me know and I'll delete it.

zeralot @ : Ok so i've had the First Series DVD of Red Dwarf for quite a while now but i haven't watched it right through to the end because no one would watch it with me.
So i watched it just recently and i've just found out that i've never seen ep 5 or 6 of the first series. Out of all the Red Dwarf that i've seen i could beleive that i'd missed two eps like that. I'm not to suprised but i've found that these eps have been quite popular amoung the fanfic writers.
So quite a bit of the fanfiction now makes a lot more sense into where some of the ideas came from, as in it's raining fish in the sleeping quarters and having two holigrams on board. When they clearly state that they can't sustain more than one holigram at one time. Now I can clearly see why having two Rimmers on board was so popular with the slashers, heh.
Hmm i've got to get back into reading some good fanfic's, other than the RDSS and the RDHS on yahoo could someone sugest a good place.

Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Gavin, and I'm from Britain. I got into Red Dwarf quite late, in early 1999 to be exact, but I've seen every episode and my favourite is Backwards. Ok so I'm sitting here watching my new series one and two Red Dwarf DVDs over and over again and I have a question.
Who is Gordon Bennett and how come Holly uses his name as a swear?
Was he an 80's pop culture refference in England? Or an inside joke of some kind?
Figured if anyone would know it would be you wonderful people here in the community,

The cartoon contest at sevworld is having it's first ever Red Dwarf cartoon. Since it's the first, anyone can suggest sevnames (parodies of the characters names, places, ship, ect) and punchlines for that eternal question- "Why DOES Holly keep changing heads?"
Of course, you may be geek enough to actually know and all will bow down to your supreme geekosity. I certainly would.

..I've met more interesting people that way. It's always amsuing when they try to shake your hand as you stick it out. That said- hi! I'm a huge fan of the show, since age five, if you'll believe, back before I migrated back to the States. I even have all the seasons on (somebody else's borrowable) DVD! Not that that appears to be all that unusual here...
One of my thousands of favourite moments, coming right after the dialogue already quoted a few posts below today. Cat- "I wouldn't like to be around when one of these suckers is making a speech!" I've always been the one up at midnight (only time it shows on our limited crap American basic cable) laughing hysterically at something like that. The show has provided more oppourtunites for me to fall off of something relativly squishy into something not and continue laughing the whole time, and I highly respect it for that.
twotrees @ : Because I felt like it
One of my favorite bits of dialogue in Series II(along with the whole triple fried egg with chilli and chutney sandwich exchange) is in Thanks for the Memory:
CAT: What are you talking about, grease stain?
RIMMER: It's a well documented phenomenon. They kidnap you, give you a mind probe, erase your memory, and put you back.
LISTER: OK, aliens came aboard.
RIMMER: Without question.
LISTER: They broke my leg.
RIMMER: For some reason.
CAT: They broke MY leg.
HOLLY: And then they did a jigsaw.
HOLLY: Well, that's cleared that up then.
RIMMER: Look, you're not thinking alien. That's what aliens are: alien. They do alien things. Things that are...[he shrugs]...alien.
--I really love the part about the jigsaw. I laughed out loud it was so funny and well played.

I was in a Mexican restaurant the other day to pick something up and an old man with a kinda gravelly voice was placing his order. Loud enough so I can hear it, he said "Gazpacho...soup" and then just stopped talking. I laughed so hard. The waitress just looked at me.

Sorry for the shameless plugging, but I figure, what's a Red Dwarf community for if not to enlighten fans as to the great internet-based possibilities that are out there!
Ahem. Anyway, I've just launched a new Dwarf site. It's called FUCHAL, and it's basically a place for me to put various articles I'm writing/have written; as well as any articles that readers might like to submit.
I'd appreciate any feedback you have to offer, too. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi all, I just found these communities so I thought I'ld make with a quick introduction. I have NO clue why I didn't think to search for Red Dwarf communities before, I'll blame it on a case space mumps...
I'm from Canada, and fell in love with Red Dwarf the first time I saw it on TV here. It's my favourite show of ALL TIME. Unfortunately not many stations air it, I'm lucky if I get to watch a half-dozen episodes a year (thank silicon-heaven for the DVD's). I'm dreaming of taking a trip to the UK someday just so I can attend Dimension Jump. I'm looking forward to hopefully conversing on all things 'Dwarf' with other folks who love the show as well.

timedilation @ : Life about "the Dwarf"
Hi! Just joined this community.
I was just thinking that the standard of life aboard the Dwarf is atrocious for all crew (not officers). In series 1 and 2 when they use the toilet, they have to crap right there in the middle of the room, without even a curtain or anything to protect your dignity. Just imagine the smell from Lister after one in the morning...curry and lager...it is gonna STINK in there! ;0D
